Gavrila Chuprun worked as a volleyball coach, a salesman, a hairdresser, an entertainer, in a kindergarten, a plumber, but did not find a place in life. His wife considers him an eccentric and a loafer. The son is embarrassed by his profession as a plumber. Gavrila leaves his family, leaves for his native village, dresses up in the uniform of a sea captain to impress his fellow countrymen. But his wife, who has arrived, saves him from shame.
