A Prague resident who has returned from Auschwitz discovers that his apartment has been occupied by a Sudeten German who is shooting at passers-by, and Soviet tankers have to intervene in the situation. A Soviet sergeant, sitting on a city tram, remembers his profession and asks to give him the place of a counselor.
