Matisse voyageur, en quête de lumière
While Matisse is often remembered in art history as a painter working from his studio, he had the soul of a traveler, endlessly chasing light. This quest led him South, to sunny places like Spain, Algeria, Morocco and Polynesia that helped him compose a unique palette and deeply influenced his works, bringing him to a distilled vision of light and form, on the cusp of contemporary art.
